EWTMI is privately held by a consortium of forward thinking entrepreneurs with a strong sense of civic responsibility. We endeavor to work for and speak on behalf of a public who scarcely know they need to have a conversation, let alone what language it takes place in. While this conversation about a National Broadband Plan (NBP) makes little or no headlines, it is in our view the most important component of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
The public should be ecstatic that our government has stated its desire to develop plans for our National Broadband by March 17 2010, especially in light of our very low ranking in the sector of Next Generation Network telecommunications compared to other industrialized and emerging countries. However the Public should also be very wary of most plans floating around. The evidence is in and incumbent players are seizing this opportunity to dump huge inventories of legacy hardware, creating a "THIS Generation Network". Going down this road necessitates a Forklift Upgrade within a few years, merely to continue our game of catch up to those countries that have endeavored to create true Next Generation Networks (NGN).
EWTMI has developed a methodology for design and architecture of an National Broadband Initiative (NBI ) that guarantees the best possible outcome for the tax dollars spent in the name of the American people. We will be presenting a blueprint for what could be called a “Public Option” NBI that far exceeds any proposal we’ve yet seen with regard to cost savings, performance/scalability, entrepreneurial revitalization and significant nation-wide employment potential.
MISSION STATEMENT
EWTMI's mission is to design next generation optical networks that deliver the most powerful "Public Utility" possible. Our goal is to assist our federal and municipal governments in developing the world's most state-of-the-art National Broadband Initiative in the most cost effective and innovative manner possible. We seek to help facilitate the enfranchisement of the American Public with a National "Open Access" Passive Optical Network and FTTx, future-proof into the second half of the 21st century.
We steadfastly believe that beyond the build-out management and maintenance jobs that will be created, an open access model will break the current stranglehold on the media and communications sectors and open the floodgates to entrepreneurship and the next generation of information, medical and educational applications.
